The collection also includes various types of pheasants, for example the Silver Pheasant (right), the Peacock (bottom right) and the Golden Pheasant (below peacock). Pheasants are among the world's most beautiful birds. All but one of the 49 species are native to Asia, they live in a variety of habitats, from the snowy Himalayas to the steamy jungles of Indonesia. characterized by having strong sexual  dimorphism; with the males being highly ornate with bright colors, and adornments such as wattles dand long tails. Pheasants aren't new to aviculture, Egyptian Pharaohs kept peacocks as pets and Alexander the Great brought them to Greece around 2,500 years ago. It is even reported that George Washington kept gold pheasants at Mount Vernon

Another bird that is plentiful at Isis Oasis  is the Parrot (bottom left).Parrots are a broad order of more than 350 birds. Macaws, Amazons, lorikeets, lovebirds, cockatoos and many others are all considered parrots. All parrots have curved beaks and all are zygodactyls, meaning they have four toes on each foot, two pointing forward and two projecting backward. Most parrots eat fruit, flowers, buds, nuts, seeds, and some small creatures such as insects.

Parrots are found in warm climates all over most of the world. The greatest diversities exist in Australasia, Central America, and South America.

Many parrots are kept as pets, especially macaws, Amazon parrots, cockatiels, parakeets, and cockatoos. These birds have been popular companions throughout history because they are intelligent, charismatic, colorful, and musical. Some parrots can imitate many sounds, including human speech.
